Insurgent hackers behind latest Predator crash

The Air Force has acknowledged the loss of yet another Predator UAV over the skies of Iraq.  Their press release only says "a board will convene to investigate the crash," but their findings are already well known in the cyberspace community.  Insurgent hackers have been logging into missile-laden UAVs during the critical "V1/V2" takeoff sequence.

Right at the moment the insurgents can do nothing more than crash the operating system, which in turn crashes the aircraft and destroys its onboard missiles.  But we at AFCYBER knew about the UAV operating system vulnerabilities for quite awhile now, and I myself wrote a long string of emails on SIPRNET warning that hackers will eventually gain root — at which time they will completely take over an armed aircraft.  My emails warned the top brass "it's only a matter of time before the insurgents turn a UAV against us and rain Hellfire missiles on coalition forces..."
